First Time Home Buyers Credit
As Modified in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009

Congress Revises Home Buyer Tax Credit

A tax credit of up to $8,000 is now available for first-time home buyers purchasing a principal
residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before April 30, 2010. You and/or your spouse may
qualify as first-time home buyers if you have not owned a home in the previous three years. Unlike the
tax credit enacted in 2008, the new credit does not have to be repaid.

Additionally, home buyers who have owned their previous home for more than 5 years can also qualify for up to $6,500 in tax credit when purchasing a new home.
